Matt wrote and recorded this rock and roll masterpiece with his
band No Rain while attending USC and living in Central LA. It's
about . . . like, um . . . a dog or something? Who cares?! It just
makes total sense -- "Black nose and paws in a shadow, shadow
of a fence comes the night!" Hey, noone knew what "Louie
Louie" meant either.
Getto
Dog was recorded on a boom box (or should we say getto blaster?)
in Matt's dorm room. The no-fi production fits the rawness of the
words and music. The opening two-note guitar assault reminds me
of Ian Curtis -- no small accomplishment for a straight boy from
New Jersey who doesn't wear eyeliner!
If
Lenny Kaye were hip enough to devote a "Nuggets" disc
to the Early Nineties New Jersey Scene then this recording would
surely be track one. It's one of my favorite recordings of all time.
Download it, lock yourself in the house, playing it on an endless
MP3 loop and embrace the madness.
We're
proud to present three versions: the original audio recording and
two live and intoxicated clips from the infamous Jagermeister Debacle
of 1993:
